III. DATA COLLECTION VIA COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

  1. Use of Cookies and Tracking Technologies and their Purpose

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance functionality, ensure security, and analyze website usage.

    1.1 Technically Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the proper functioning, navigation, and security of our website. They do not store personally identifiable information beyond what is needed for the technical operation.

    • Examples: Session management cookies, security cookies (e.g., CSRF protection).

    • Legal Basis (Canada - PIPEDA): Implied consent, as these are strictly necessary for the website's requested functionality.

    • Legal Basis (GDPR): Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in ensuring the technical operation and security of the website.

    • Retention Period: These are typically session cookies, automatically deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies with a short lifespan necessary for their function.

1.2 Analytics (Server- and Client-Side Tracking via Wix)

Our website utilizes integrated analytics provided by our hosting provider, Wix.com Ltd. These analytics help us understand how visitors interact with our site to improve performance and user experience. This involves:

    • Server-side analytics (log data): Wix servers automatically log information like IP address, browser type/version, device type, pages accessed, timestamps, and visit duration.

    • Client-side analytics (JavaScript-based tracking): Built-in scripts track interactions like click behavior, navigation paths, and time spent on pages.

These analytics techniques may operate without storing persistent cookies on your device but still involve the processing of personal data (like IP addresses or unique interaction identifiers).

    • Legal Basis: Your explicit consent, obtained via our cookie/tracking consent banner before these analytics technologies are activated.

      • Under GDPR, this corresponds to Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

      • Under Canadian law, express consent is required for this type of non-essential tracking and analysis.

    • Retention Period: Analytics data processed by our hosting provider, Wix, is retained according to their internal data retention policies, which are necessary for them to provide us with analytics insights and performance reporting. We rely on Wix to retain this data only as long as necessary for these purposes. For specific details on Wix's data retention periods concerning the analytics data they process on our behalf, please refer to the Wix Privacy Policy.  Aggregated or anonymized data derived from these analytics, which cannot identify individuals, may be kept longer for trend analysis. You can request the deletion of identifiable analytics data associated with your visit by contacting us (see Section V).

    1.3 Managing Your Preferences

On your first visit, and periodically thereafter, you will be asked to provide your explicit consent for non-essential cookies and tracking technologies (including the analytics described above) via our consent banner. Technically necessary cookies cannot be disabled through this tool as they are required for site functionality. You can manage or withdraw your consent for non-essential technologies at any time through the Cookie Settings link or widget available on our website. You can also typically configure your browser settings to refuse cookies, but this may impact website functionality.
